Shiva Sriram, Head of Business Development, Molbio Diagnostics highlighted a sharp increase in hepatitis testing through Truenat devices in Maharashtra—Hepatitis B tests rose by 150%, and Hepatitis C tests saw a fivefold jump between 2023–24 and 2024–25. With the government planning to deploy Truenat machines in all 40,000 primary health centres, access to timely diagnosis is expected to expand significantly. The shift comes as clinicians report a rise in severe Hepatitis A cases in adults, a decline in new Hepatitis C infections, and ongoing concern over Hepatitis B due to its complexity and long-term risks.
