India has launched two indigenously developed HPV test kits — Truenat® HPV-HR Plus by Molbio Diagnostics and Patho Detect by Mylab Discovery Solutions — following successful scientific validation by AIIMS and other leading institutions. Using chip-based RT-PCR technology, the kits detect eight high-risk HPV genotypes responsible for over 96% of cervical cancer cases globally. Designed for point-of-care use, they enable rapid, affordable screening even in remote areas. Supported by BIRAC and the WHO’s IARC, this initiative is a significant step toward meeting India’s cervical cancer elimination goals and aligns with WHO’s global screening targets for 2030.
