Molbio Diagnostics has received Emergency Use Authorisation (EUA) from India’s Drug Controller General (DCGI) for its Truenat platform to detect Nipah virus (NiV) infections. Following a recent outbreak in Kerala, the approval enables rapid, point-of-care diagnosis during critical public health emergencies. Truenat, a portable RT-PCR testing system already approved for TB, COVID-19, and other diseases, was developed in collaboration with the National Institute of Virology, Pune. Its ability to deliver quick results at the point of patient contact strengthens India’s capacity for early containment of emerging infectious diseases.
